Our planet is facing a global warming, which is behind the increasing severity of weather we have seen in the past five years (including the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina) as well as 'Peak Oil', which is the inevitable fact that our supplies of oil are going to run out, on the way becoming increasingly expensive, along with much of what allows us to enjoy our current standard of living.

During these hazardous and insecure times, the prices of classes, workshop and seminars (on natural building, solar power, sustainability) which could help all of us to live without using petroleum products are through the roof. A cursory glance at the prices of these workshop shows us that they are not designed to share information as quickly as possible, to people of all income levels, but for the presenters to maintain a middle class lifestyle.

The Albany Skill Share is a workshop series whose mission is to spread the most amount of information on the topics of sustainability & food, water, and energy security to people of all income levels. It is in this spirit, one not only of ecological but also social justice, that the skill share is held.
